The 14th China-Northeast Asia Expo closed in Changchun, Jilin province in northeast China, on August 27, attracting investments worth 84 billion RMB.

Nearly 100 international and domestic cooperation projects were signed, an official from the executive committee of the expo said.

The expo, which opened on August 23, was attended by over 20,000 guests from 123 countries and regions. The eight exhibition halls displayed more than 60,000 commodities from over 1000 enterprises, about a fifth of which came from overseas.

The activities included forums and business days with specific countries to facilitate cooperation in areas such as modern agriculture and legal and maritime development.

Business and government organization representatives from 13 countries along the Belt and Road promoted exchanges and cooperation in fields such as agriculture and energy.

Nigeria, for example, offers investment opportunities for Chinese enterprises in construction, mining, tourism, manufacturing, and transportation and logistics infrastructure as it accelerates the development of these fields, according to Johnson Anene, Chair of the Abuja Trade Centre of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Jilin and its neighboring Heilongjiang province are strengthening the China-Europe Railway Express to further open up to Europe. The railway services, started in 2011, run freight trains connecting more than 50 cities in the Chinese mainland with nearly 170 cities in 23 countries.

Since this year, Jilin province has been sending delegations to Russia, Southeast Asia and other places to attract investment, and the Heilongjiang provincial government sent a delegation to Beijing, Shanghai to meet with Cargill, Itochu and other 11 multinational companies. See page 3

In the first half of 2023, Jilin province's foreign trade exports realized 28.14 billion RMB, an increase of 25.3 percent year-on-year; Heilongjiang's total import and export value of trade in goods is around 142 billion RMB, the scale of a record high in the same period in history.

The expo this year has signed a total of 99 international and domestic cooperation projects, attracting investment amounted to around 84 billion RMB, according to Lv Haiqiang, an official from the executive committee of the expo.
